MEET THE ATIST
Susan Reiter BA. B.Ed
I am a passionate artist with over 40 years of experience, painting in various mediums including acrylics, oils, watercolors, and mixed media. Born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, I carry with me a deep love for the natural beauty of Atlantic Canada, which continues to inspire my work. Although I now reside in Kanata, Ontario, my connection to the landscapes, particularly the water scenes, remains a core influence in my artistic journey.
Throughout my career, I have focused on capturing the essence of nature, especially birds and tranquil natural scenes. My style leans toward realism, allowing me to showcase the intricate details and natural beauty of the subjects I portray. I find joy in the challenge of creating lifelike representations, where each brushstroke is an opportunity to immerse myself in the world around me.
In addition to painting, I have spent over 20 years teaching art from my home studio, sharing my love for creativity with both adults and children. This has been incredibly fulfilling, as teaching has allowed me to connect with others who share a similar passion for artistic expression.
Although I gravitate toward detailed realism, I also enjoy exploring abstract compositions, balancing my traditional approach with a touch of experimentation. This duality reflects my belief in the power of both structure and freedom in art.
My work is displayed in various local art galleries in Ottawa, as well as for sale internationally. I am an active member of several art societies in the Ottawa area. I invite viewers to experience the quiet beauty of the world around us through my paintings, whether it’s the vibrant life of a bird in flight or the serene flow of water, always striving to share the beauty I see with others.
