Sharon Lalonde
MEET THE ARTIST
It has been twelve years since Sharon Lalonde embarked on the journey of full-time
art making. However, the practice of observing how light interacts with water, clouds,
or flower petals has been an integral part of her life for as long as she can remember.
Sharon grew up in Saskatchewan and was fortunate to be surrounded by artists and
individuals who valued creativity in all its forms. Her formal art training commenced in
high school and continued in post-secondary education, where she earned a Bachelor
of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan.
Although her career and family responsibilities diverted her focus from painting.
During that time, Sharon engaged in designing costumes for various theatrical
productions. This involved combining historical research with garment construction to
create a specific time, place, and mood for the audience.
Sharon Lalonde has achieved Exhibiting Member status, with the Federation of
Canadian Artists. Her paintings are displayed internationally as well as throughout
Canada.
She creates painting that are energized, expressive and dynamic. The
inspiration for the work, is the dynamics of light, movement and life of the
image she paints. The process is continually evolving.
Her studio is at ARTWRX Studio/Gallery Society, 362C 10th Street, Courtenay, BC.
