MEET THE ARTIST

Janice Hayward of Red Thread Photography was born and raised in the Comox Valley, where her lifelong connection to the natural world continues to shape her creative vision. A graduate of the Western Academy of Photography, Janice has traveled extensively throughout the world, and more recently across Canada’s northern territories, seeking to capture the quiet power and emotional depth of the landscapes she encounters.
Shooting from the heart, Janice’s work reflects her deep sensitivity to light, colour, and movement. Through the fine art technique of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), she transforms the familiar into the abstract — creating painterly impressions that blur the line between photography and visual art. Each image is both a meditation and a discovery, inviting viewers to experience not just what she saw, but what she felt in that moment.
Committed to continual growth as an artist, Janice strives to move beyond the notion of snapshots, focusing instead on crafting stunning, evocative works that reflect her evolving mastery of the photographic medium.
