MEET THE ARTIST
I am deeply connected to the beauty of Vancouver Island, where my studio is nestled between two wild dogwood trees. Nature's endless abundance and pervasive spirit inspire my prints and drawings. Each piece is an attempt to convey the ineffable "magic" that nature possesses, going beyond mere replication. I strive to translate its wonders using a unique array of tools: the delicate precision of line work, the rhythmic beauty of pattern, the bold statements of graphic mark-making, and the evocative power of symbolism. Over the years, these tools have melded into a distinct personal style, each stroke reflecting my deep connection with the natural world. While I primarily work with graphite, I am always open to exploring other mediums that may better capture the essence of my vision.
While the final artwork is significant, I find equal value in the process of creation. Whether meticulously planning a printed circuit board or dedicating hours to a single drawing, I derive joy and contentment from the act itself. It is a deeply therapeutic process, a profound way for me to connect with my subject matter on a basic level, enhancing the depth and resonance of my artistic expression.
