MEET THE ARTIST
When I retired, I asked myself, “What do you want to do for the rest of your life? What have you always wanted to do but never had the time?” The answer was clear: creativity.
I am a largely self-taught artist who has explored many mediums over the years, recently discovering a deep love for oils. Though I’ve taken several online classes, much of my learning has come from simply showing up to the canvas and allowing curiosity to lead the way.
My work has an illustrative quality and is filled with rich, vibrant colour. I’m drawn to painting people, animals, and flowers—subjects that reveal the beauty and emotion of life. The eyes, especially, captivate me. They are the windows to the soul, and through them I strive to capture the essence of my subjects.
When I paint, I often lose myself in the process—time disappears, and I feel completely immersed. Each piece carries a part of me, a reflection of both my inner world and my deep appreciation for the living spirit in everything I paint.
