MEET THE ARTIST

I’ve lived in Nanoose Bay for nearly 49 years surrounded by the forest, ocean, and ever-changing light that inspire much of my work. My paintings are colourful, semi-abstract interpretations of landscapes, seascapes and gardens. .

I mainly paint with acrylics on canvas, but I can’t resist mixing things up. Oil paint, pastels, monoprinting, and hand-painted collage papers often find their way into my pieces. I also have a serious art supply buying habit — I just can’t help myself when I see a new material or technique that begs to be tried!

Two things always spark my creativity: shape and colour. When I look at a landscape, I’m drawn to the rhythm of simple forms — trees, ocean, sky, and beach — more than detailed realism. And colour… well, that’s where the magic happens. I love when one colour makes another pop, or when a subtle shift suddenly brings a painting to life.

I’m fortunate to have a little cottage tucked in the woods where I spend my days painting and caring for foster kittens. Honestly, my studio has become as much a Kitten Cottage as an art space!

I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts from Malaspina University College, and have taken many workshops with inspiring teachers. But my
best lessons come from the act of painting itself — showing up, exploring, and following where colour leads
