MEET THE ARTIST
I create whimsical and soulful creations inspired by my experiences and the beauty surrounding me. All of my art is created from a place of experimentation and intuitive practice. I start with a spark of an idea, then it grows itself into something new and surprising. I am highly influenced by folklore, anime, the Group of Seven ( including Emily Carr )and mythical beings. I enjoy history and storytelling. Playing with colour is also something I am drawn to. The different combinations and feelings colour can evoke is fun to explore, the possibilities are endless. I am always challenging myself and changing as a creative, I have done so since before I can remember. I feel like the more I create the more I develop my own unique voice in the world. All of my creations mark a certain time in my life. Each year passing I look back and know Who I was, the people that surrounded me and what it felt like to be a soul on this planet at the time. When I share my art, it suddenly takes on its own story in the lives of other minds and homes and I think that is just such a beautiful way to exist as a person during this short life. Sharing my art has always been a passion of mine, its a massive part of my identity. A little more about me is that I am a mom of two. I was born and raised on Vancouver Island and I work out of my home. My walls are always full of art, from ceiling to floor, and they come and go freely all year, every year. I am honoured to once again be apart of the Artwrx square foot show, where I am sharing ten pieces of original art that are a mix between my landscapes and whimsical/mythical beings. I am excited to see all of the beautiful paintings from artists on this island we call home.
